Water Softener Salt Delivery in Las Vegas
Salt carried from the truck, through the garage, and poured — up to 150 lbs a visit, as much as the tank actually takes. It stays at the fill line and you never lift a bag.
Why softeners here eat salt
Las Vegas water runs roughly 16 to 18 grains per gallon. That is hard by any measure — the scale you see on a shower door here would take years to appear in most of the country. A softener deals with it by trading those hardness minerals for sodium, then flushing itself out with brine and starting over. The harder the water, the more often it regenerates, and every regeneration spends salt.
Which is why the bag you bought in March is gone by June. It isn't the softener misbehaving; it's doing exactly what 17-grain water requires. The practical consequence is a chore that comes around four to six times a year, weighs forty pounds a go, and has to be carried from a car trunk across a garage.
Skipping it doesn't announce itself either. A softener with an empty brine tank doesn't alarm or shut off — it just quietly passes hard water through and you go back to spotted glassware and scale on the fixtures, usually without connecting the two. By the time most people notice, the tank has been empty for a month.
What we actually do
- Carry the bags in from the truck. You don't open the garage door for a delivery and you don't move anything.
- Check the brine tank before we add anything — salt level, and whether there's a crust bridged across the top with a hollow underneath. A bridged tank looks full and is doing nothing.
- Break up any bridging, then pour to the fill line — as much as that tank takes that day, up to 150 lbs.
- Log the fill line against last visit. This is the number that matters: it tells us whether your usage is steady or climbing.
- Take the empty bags away with us. No stack of plastic in the corner of the garage.
- Photograph the tank and leave you the dated record.
How often, and what the log is for
Every visit — four times a year. We bring what the tank needs rather than a fixed drop, up to 150 lbs, so the level comes back to the fill line each time instead of drifting down over the year.
The reason we write down the fill line every time is that it's an early warning. If the tank keeps returning to the same mark, everything is normal. If it stops coming back to that mark — the level is lower each visit than it should be — something has changed: more people in the house, a longer regeneration cycle, or a valve starting to misbehave. Either way the tank still leaves full — the log is how we spot the change and raise it with you in person, not something that turns into a surprise on your bill.

We deliver and fill. Softener repair and installation go to our licensed plumbing partner. If the unit is stuck mid-regeneration, leaking at the bypass, or plainly not softening despite a full tank, we photograph it, tell you what we saw, and give you a name. We don't open the valve head and we don't rebuild the unit.
