Which one is actually right
Take Hands-free lite if you have no water softener
Plenty of Las Vegas homes — particularly older builds and condos — never had a softener installed. If there's no brine tank in your garage, two of the three upgrades above lite are wasted on you. Lite covers the four jobs every home has: air filters, the fridge filter, smoke alarm batteries and the vacuum.
Take Hands-free if you have a softener or high ceilings
This is the one most homes land on. It adds the two chores that involve carrying something heavy or standing on something tall — the salt and the bulbs. If you have a brine tank in the garage, or a two-story entry with a fixture you have never once changed, this is the tier.
Take Hands-free plus if the dryer vent is overdue
Plus is Hands-free with a full dryer vent clean-out once a year. If you can't remember the last time your vent was cleaned, or your dryer has started needing two cycles to finish a load, the $8 a month difference buys the one job on this list that is actually a safety issue.
